Christmas is coming, hear the credit card swipes,
The economy’s grumbles, the snips and the snipes!
Our globe is fast warming, no, it’s just climate change;
Those in charge can so easily the facts rearrange.
Do you think that the Savior had this in His mind,
That people would forget Him and be so unkind?
To celebrate His birth, we just run to the mall,
Taking Christ out of Christmas isn’t His way at all!

This year’s been eventful, fun and trauma by loads –
Deaths: Dell’s little Foxxy and pug Bronco Rhodes.
No new ones are coming, eight grandkids and holding,
But we’re looking forward to blessings unfolding.
Dave excavated, hammered, painted and wired,
Our plan for the remodel, we thought was inspired.
After weeks of long hours, frustrations and mess,
It came all together to be wonderful, no less!
We have room and to spare for our family’s growth,
We can party together, just relax – or do both!

We went to Lake Powell, ‘floating hat’, that was me,
The water was pure heaven, for boat, board and ski!
We enjoyed all the beauty, just as anyone might,
With amazing sunsets and star-gazing at night.
Each adult took turns as chief cook or kid-tender,
All twenty of us loved it – each age, size and gender!

Our worst challenge this year came as a terrible shock,
When Amberly’s doctor gave her the ‘Cancer talk’.
After surgery and prayers, she is being courageous,
Taking charge of her health, her hope is contagious.
With blessings of promise we hold on to our faith,
Knowing that miracles happen, both little and great.

With blessings of promise we hold on to our faith,
Knowing that miracles happen, both little and great.
The greatest miracle, our greatest source of joy,
Began in a manger, with a pure, sweet baby boy.
He then grew in stature, taught His gospel and healed,
And did all that the prophets before had revealed.
He redeemed us and loved us, paid the ultimate price,
Not another could be worthy for this sacrifice.
The miracles continue, surely, they never ceased,
We honor Him with worship at this Season of Peace.

Read it at my moms. You're so talented!
Hi Aunt Barb! What a great poem--I really liked how carefully each stanza is crafted. Reading your poem made me think of the poem that you recited at my wedding, because you did a great job of reciting it. I think you're very talented :)
ANYWAY...
We miss you here in Canada!
xoxo
